Just got home from the gym with Lisa, lifted legs.. glad I had a release to get that midterm out of my head. I didn't do very hot :/ bummer. Surprisingly I didn't get as upset about it as I expected, just got to try harder next time and study with a partner maybe? I made a lot of stupid mistakes unfortunately, had the right answer for four different questions....THEN went back and changed my answer because I second guessed myself. I'm very talented sometimes haha I'm trying to keep my spirits high though and not let myself get down about it, hopefully that will make me feel a little better than I do now..positive thoughts right? If anybody did really well can you give me some pointers so I can figure out the best way to study? Cause what I did definitely didn't work :( Either comment back on here or email me at vemadams@aol.com
I'd really really appreciate it!

  1. Hey girl! yeah I'm in the same boat. I second guessed myself to much when I had the right answer in the first place. A lot of those questions could have EASILY gone either way so that was frustating, but don't worry about it. There is still more time in the semester to make up for it! :)You will do better next time since you will know how the exams really are. I will see you on Friday! :) Enjoy your day off tomorrow although you probably have to work like me! :/

  2. Do keep your spirits high. Also, i made a pact with myself to NOT change answers from my gut response (unless i am able to really think through it in a way that i can justify that a different answer is for sure right) - Because i ALWAYS change it to the wrong one. It is statistically proven that generally change their answers they change them to the wrong one....
SO - don't beat yourself up!
----I did good, and what i did was go through and read EVERY word. Go through the objectives and read the chapters and do every single one. Make sure that you read in the book the extra snippets (like at the beginning of the chapter where they say "Meet Mr. So-n-so." It helped me to understand a lot to try to do a whole chapter in one, maybe two sittings. I know this requires a lot of time... I spent probably a good 2-4 hours per chapter. When going through they make references back to the patients they introduced you to at the beginning of the chapter...that helped me. Also, when i am done making my outline of the chapter (which is pretty much what happened when i wrote out my objectives) i went through and re-read it. I wrote on another sheet of paper the things that i didnt remember well when reading them over.
Also, if you are a note card person, what i think i will do next time is write out my objectives on paper, and then transcribe that onto notecards, eliminating the things that i feel comfortable with, that i know for sure.
I dont know if this is what you already have done, or if this helps, but i hope it does help. if you have any questions/comments feel free to write me back on here or at my email: holla292@tccemail.fl.edu.

Dont freak out! Its always harder to function when stressing out. I am glad that you exercise and get that stress out! That is an awesome outlet.

  3. Putting the objectives on note cards is a really good idea. I did the reading and the objectives but I'm going to try that too :) Thanks for mentioning it.

  4. I just did the Fundamentals Success book and CD and designed a test based on the topics. Our group got together twice and studied first the FS questions and the second time just went through all the course objectives and discussed things we didn't understand. It really helped to have things explained other ways than just reading it in the book.

I also make up stupid things to make me remember stuff. Wheezes - High pitched (H in the name), musical (like the band Wheezer). Ronchi - low pitched (word kinda sounds like rocks, rocks are on groune = low) congestion (word has C in it)...it works for me.

I don't have as much problem with the "critical thinking" though I refer to it as "worst case scenerio" since I've done that all my life. "If my car goes off the bridge and into the water how will I get out?" "If this particular event happens how will I deal with it." It drives my boyfriend crazy sometimes but apparently it's a useful skill in Nursing! Who knew looking at the "dark side" of life would be a useful nursing skill!

    Good luck!

  5. Ugh! I did the same thing where I second guessed myself, changed the a few answers that I originally had correct. so dissapointing!! But you are right! Positive thoughts and a different plan will surely get you a better grade next time!!

I haven't read the above comments, but I found printing the knowledge check points for each Chapter is a great resource when studying!! Plus, that CD is amazing for practice quizzes! .... Let me know if you find something that works too!!

    Let me know if a
